Since i...  moreThe choir was founded on November 10th, 2010 and is continuing its efforts by including in its repertoire polyphonic Turkish folk songs, choir pieces of different periods and Cyprus polyphonic choir pieces along with the world choir literature. Since its foundation, the choir is in continuous improvement and has been involved in many workshops with Prof.Mustafa Apaydın which were organized twice a year. The choir has a mixed membership including music teachers, musicians and amateur choir singers. The choir’s name is inspired by the famous story written by William Shakespeare and Guiseppe Verdi’s famous opera called Othello and the Othello Castle which is located in the city of Famagusta. The city where the choir is based is known as “Othello’s City Famagusta” all around the world. In the last six years since its formation, the Othello choir has given many concerts in Cyprus and also hosted festivals and choir workshops. The word 'vacilando' is Spanish, and refers to taking enjoyment out of the journey rather than focusing on the destination. As such, the choir will take a more casual approach to music-making, with fewer performances throughout the season than Òran, our young adult choir. The group will still place an emphasis on all the things that make Kokopelli's music-making unique, however: community, multiculturalism, choral excellence, and multifaceted performances.  less

Founded as a male choir in 1900, it became a mixed choir in 1907. The choir was conducted for more than four decades by its founder, the renowned choir conductor and composer Heikki Klemetti. The current artistic director, Esko Kallio (b. 1974), has conducted Suomen Laulu since 2002. The choir's repertoire consists both a cappella works and compositions works for choir and orchestra. Since 1921 the choir has maintained the tradition of performing the St. Matthew Passion by J.S.Bach every Maundy Thursday in St. John's Church in Helsinki. Suomen Laulu has made five recordings, the most recent of which was published to celebrate choir's centenary in 2000. The choir also has its own series of publications, the "Suomen Laulun ohjelmistoa", which contains several of the finest pieces of Finnish choral music.  less

BAVE Community choir was launched in 2015 as part of BTSM’s outreach to the community. Both the Community and Chamber choirs are part of the Broadway Theater Society Malaysia’s activity groups. Members of the Chamber choir will have to first be part of the main Community choir. The BTSM is a non-profit organization, formed to promote performing arts in Malaysia by the community, for the community. BAVE maintains a strong policy that “Everyone Can Sing”. The Sierra Boys choir is the new revival of the Sierra Boys choir in the 1970s, which was active in the Reno/Sparks/Carson City area and directed by Stan Burke. When Mr. Burke joined the Mario Singers and left to move to Long Beach, CA, the choir was disbanded and a hole was left in the local arts and culture scene. The revival of the choir is a project (and passion) of Nathan Lundholm. Our goal is to provide musical and artistic opportunities to the boys while teaching them to be generous and thankful members of the local and global community. Our aim is to be fun and entertaining on many levels, from practices to shows, even to social events on the town. Overtone singing is a new vocal technique that allows for singing two tones simultaneously. EOC sings compositions with written overtones as well as choir improvisations and contemporary music. The effect of controlled overtones on the timbre of classical choir compositions is explored with special ear training.
